Ventilate your hive, clear supers, and prevent trapped bees – all in one board. This Langstroth crown board comes with a fitted Porter bee escape and is crafted from durable New Zealand Pine.
It features a single central hole pre-fitted with a Porter bee escape – a one-way spring valve that lets bees exit the super but prevents them from returning. Ideal for clearing supers before honey harvests or just preventing bees from getting stuck in the roof cavity.
The board is made from knot-free New Zealand Pine for strength, durability, and a clean finish – a superior choice to fir, soft pine, or fast-grown cedar.
Why choose New Zealand Pine?
Key Features:
Like any hive equipment, we recommend treating with preserve or paint to maximise the working life. Once treated, New Zealand Pine beats many of the characteristics of British Red Cedar (which is typically fast-grown and felled young making it softer and less durable).
