This British National wooden nuc box is made from knot-free New Zealand Pine and includes:

  • Base/floor – with ventilation and varroa board
  • Brood box – sized for National frames
  • Crown board – with feeding hole
  • Roof – with galvanised metal cover for weather protection
  • All screws included – assemble straight out of the box

Perfect for splitting hives, catching swarms or raising queens, this nuc box is a must-have for any beekeeper building up nucleus colonies or expanding an apiary.

  • Knot-free – smooth, solid and perfect for treating or painting
  • Chinese Pine often has knots and sap pockets that weaken joints
  • UK Fir is brittle and prone to warping and splintering
  • Farmed Cedar is soft and dents easily unless carefully maintained

Like any hive equipment, we recommend treating with preserve or paint to maximise the working life. Once treated, New Zealand Pine beats many of the characteristics of British Red Cedar (which is typically fast-grown and felled young making it softer and less durable).
